Dave Field has been volunteering with the Appalachian Trail in Maine since 1954 and was the maintainer of the AT on Saddleback Mountain from 1956-2016. He has served as the president of the Maine Appalachian Trail Club (MATC), on the ATC’s Board of Managers, and is a member of the Appalachian Trail Museum’s Hall of Fame. He is also a historian of the trail, working to transcribe and digitize Myron Avery’s correspondence and the papers of the MATC.
